"I try to keep my paintings simple in composition, content, and execution. I aim for mood over information. I am not going to give you every bush, and every leaf, and every blade of grass. Those things are not as important to me as conveying a mood and trying to communicate to the viewer the reason I started a particular painting in the first place."

Background Information

Steve has painted professionally for more than 20 years. He currently lives in Tallahassee. He was born in Orlando and grew up in Titusville. Because he had two sets of grandparents that lived in Orlando, his family would regularly visit. "I've seen Winter Park and Orlando change over the years. But I still see scenes and images that bring back memories of those earlier days. Those are the kinds of things I will focus on during the paint out."
