Mark Fernandez

Newport, RI

"My painting process is an attempt to explore how light and shadow can capture the essence of a scene. Plein Air painting is more akin to poetry than prose. The challenge is the use of values, negative spaces, and the balance of abstract color to create the final painting. The ultimate goal is to create an image to challenge the viewer to be more observant of their surroundings."
