Christophe Cardot

Edgewater, FL

"During my honeymoon in Key West, I realized that I had found my spiritual home in Florida, with its warmth, color and bright light. Plein air painting is my preferred method of painting, as I feel there is no better way to capture the hidden colors of the scenery. My greatest desire is to respect the quality of light, mood and tonality in my landscape."

Background Information

Pursuing a career as an artist has been a life-long dream for Christophe. In 2003, he arrived in Florida from his native France with his wife Christine, whom he met as a pen pal in high school. It was here that he sought to make his dream a reality.

Primarily self-taught, he has studied with several well-respected artists statewide and nationally. He uses the French Impressionist palette to interpret the inspiration he finds in nature, and the Golden Ratio to create his composition for his landscape paintings. He works now with oil. He is constantly searching for new products and techniques to refine his work.

Christophe has been invited to participate in plein air paint-outs throughout the State since 2005. His paintings can be found in collections throughout the United States and Europe. His commissions include three produced posters for the Absente liquor and Rhum Barbancourt publicity campaigns.

Teaching painting classes and workshops in Florida and France have been a great source of enjoyment for him. He is a member of International Plein Air Painters, World Tour Of Contemporary Landscape Artists, American Impressionist Society and Oil Painters of America.
